    Ghost Recon time

We've known it's coming but its always nice when we see it confirmed. Ghost Recon, the game that started it all for  most  of us on Xbox Live is once again showing up like the return of snow geese to the local pond. (Heavily armed migrating waterfowl, with grenades)

Ubi's forecasting for its 2009 fiscal year – running from April 2009 through March 2010 – takes "into account ... 7 franchise titles" including Assassin's Creed 2, the mysterious (still Xbox exclusive?) Splinter Cell Conviction, and Ghost Recon. Some quick finger-based math tells us that leaves four unannounced "franchise titles." Beyond Good and Evil 2, maybe? Red Steel 2, perhaps? Throw us a bone here!

Where I hung out in Africa

Ok, this is a pretty cool tool.  You can insert maps and let folks monkey around with them.

    Ok, trying a new tool

So I downloaded and am trying .  It's a blog tool.  Since I don't blog all that much, it probably won't be used a great deal.  Kinda cool though.

Wow.  Maybe I've been reading the wrong press, lately.  But it seems like someone finally grew a pair.

GameDaily BIZ: Harrison: PS3 Development in 'Full Swing'

So this is just damn funny.  What clearly started as either a PR release or a simple, canned interview response, Actually got spun up into a really good (if somewhat schizo) article by a gamer in the established media who's been watching the PS3 PR nightmare since 2005.  From this you get the story above and this one.

Sony puts robot dog Aibo to sleep - Innovation - MSNBC.com

So that PS3 to Aibo connection is out, heh.

Sony is bleeding.  How long can they expect to lose money on PS3's.  Because they will.  They have to.  With a Bluray drive estimated at betwen $100 - $150, that one must-have-item is going to push the cost of these elusive, as of yet unplayed devices ever skyward.   The chipset can't be cheap.

The other little tidbit I saw the other day, (I'll find a link) was the opinion that this really isn't a Sony-Microsoft war, it's a Sony-Toshiba war.  The PS3 is a HD movie playback device.

So the question of the day:  when they announce that it won't hit "this spring" -- probably at or just before E3 -- what will be the big positive thing they announce?  Probably a Sony Live or Sony Connect service, the one they keep leaking and then denying.  Or maybe something else.  Who knows.  Either way they have to start talking soon.  They have to announce that it won't show up in North America this year.  Just can't wait to see it when it happens.

Too cool, and a little scary.  Finding your address and the view of the house like this on Live Local

    Playing the Guard

Doing the nightly duty of making sure that the kids don't escape from bed. i keep hoping this will change as they get older but I'm not holding my breadth. On another note, the kids 360 is coming out in a few months. From the game or two I've seen glimpses of . . . they will need all the time they have. I still can't wait.

    Fame and then . . .

Just after having a story on Xbox.com come out on GeezerGamers:  it crashed.  It's only been a few minutes, but it's down nonetheless.

    Ugh.

So got the new toy.  Have to have the fun new smartphone.  Not because it's cute but inspite of it.  It has a camera, something I never thought I would need in a phone (and to some degree, still don't) but something I'm willing to goof around with. Combined with a blog that I don't really use, it has loads of potential.
